Is it separate from The Anatomy of Breastfeeding course?
NO. It’s an addition.
What is it?
It is a clarity.
It is a redefinition of all of my years of teaching and all of my course materials.
I created The Anatomy of Breastfeeding for Chiropractors and Lactation professionals to teach a very simple concept- that SUBLUXATION (or misalignment) of infant cranial and spinal anatomy resulting from birth trauma is a leading cause of feeding dysfunction. In my own practice I had become absolutely heart broken and shocked that the typical medical model of care for breastfeeding challenges didn’t identify the subluxation piece at all for the struggling breastfeeding dyad. All too often the only approach is surgery that only addresses one small aspect of the whole picture, which may or may not be effective in restoring feeding function. Sadly, and an even bigger problem in my mind, is that this leaves the subluxation to alter the rest of that child’s life.
Current position statements by organizations like the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics), the ABM (The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine) and many more are advocating for “a considered clinical approach that includes ruling out other potential causes of breastfeeding difficulties before proceeding to surgical intervention”.
As the diagnosis of Ankyloglossia reached record heights in the last 2 decades, and as more and more parents and IBCLCs were seeking more help, I saw the pediatric chiropractic profession become part of the care team in much greater numbers. GREAT! Except… those Chiropractors were often lacking in training, or if they did seek training in specific cranial/spinal adjusting related to feeding challenges, they struggled to understand it.
As a former graphic designer and a very right brained person, over the years I defined certain, very predictable patterns within the structure of the infant cranium and body that occur as a result of the forces of birth and absolutely, undeniably, result in abnormal latch, seal, suck and transfer. Through each update and improvement that I have made to The Anatomy of Breastfeeding over the years, I’ve become clearer and clearer about what this class IS and what it is NOT.
WHAT THIS IS…
It is an accurate, intuitive and practical approach to infant cranial/spinal EVALUATION specifically related to breastfeeding function.
It is a ROADMAP to understanding the interactive nature of the cranium and spine thus allowing the doctor to understand and predict common distortion patterns.
It is an addition to any other adjusting technique that resonates with you.
It’s in this light that I am introducing an updated name, not to replace, but to clarify this course…
GLOBAL CRANIAL EVALUATION.
In my experience, and the shared experiences of literally thousands of students, other courses are often segmental… i.e…
“This is an Occiput, it moves this way and this is how you adjust it. This is a Sphenoid, it moves this way, and this is how you adjust it. This is a Temporal bone, it moves this way and this is how you adjust it” …
If this is how you learn… AWESOME. Having an extremely right sided brain, I needed to figure out how all of that fit into the 3-dimensional world… i.e…
This is an Occiput, it’s attached to the Atlas and both segments are in pieces connected by cartilage and are both linked together. When the atlas subluxates in this way, then it moves the Occipital base with it and it effects the Jugular Foramen and the Hypoglossal canal this way (causing nerve impairment)… and because that is anchored by the Temporal bones, which are attached to both the Sphenoid and the Zygoma and the Maxilla, then the entire cranium, including the jaw and the palate shifts in this way….

This gives you a road map to not only UNDERSTAND the subluxation GLOBAL PATTERN, but to then systematically, efficiently and effectively remove that entire pattern.
Yes… Basic cranial adjusting technique is taught in the class so that you can go to work on Monday morning and have some great tools to work with your little patients.
WHAT THIS IS NOT- The end all, be all, of cranial adjusting technique.
In each and every class that I have ever taught (and they are numerous at this point) I strongly encourage you to take what you learn from my class and then seek more advanced techniques from so many of the masters out there.
You can use this EVALUATION tool with any technique that resonates with you. You can also now easily communicate why the SUBLUXATION PATTERN effects latch, suck, seal, transfer and the wellness of that infant and parent.
BOOM!!!
